What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is a noninvasive form of treatment that uses music as a therapeutic tool to address non-musical goals. This evidence-based practice can address client’s physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs. Music functions not only as a means for connection between client and therapist through the use of client preferred music, but also as an efficient tool for achieving therapeutic goals due to its ability to activate vast and diverse parts of the brain.

Medical MT Services

CMMT offers individual or group therapy in the medical setting to address our clients’ social, emotional, and physical needs. Music therapy in medicine allows our clients the opportunity to experience connection and healing in a noninvasive and highly individualized way through the use of client preferred music and evidence-based music therapy interventions.

Mental Health MT Services

CMMT can provide individual or group therapy to address mental health needs. Our board-certified music therapists use evidence-based practices to assist our clients in processing and developing their next steps on the path to healing.

Migrant MT Services

With a growing need for services to support migrant youth entering the United States, music therapy offers a unique level of connection. By playing music from our clients’ home culture, our therapists are able to connect more meaningfully and deeply with our clients. CMMT can provide individual or group sessions and continues to look for new places in which to develop new programs for migrant youth.
